We have enjoyed five consecutive holidays in Thassos since 2001, all the previous trips have been in June. This year we are going back for a 2nd holiday next week.
I wonder does anyone know if Yannis at Tasos’s in Skala Potamia has opened up?? When we visited in June his premises were still closed up. I hope so as he is the most generous and hospitable of hosts.
Must also mention Anne and Ian at the Aegean Bar and Dave and Nita at the Ena bar in Golden Beach, both of who are extremely welcoming.
Looking forward to being there :)

There is a new bar this summer in Limenas called “Bacarrat! It is next door to Moyses taverna and is really nice. It is run by George & Themis who are sons of the owner of Toxotis Taverna. Enjoyed a pre siesta frappe there, a pre dinner ouzo at sunset & many evenings with a glass of wine or a cocktail. Toxotis is also still my favourite taverna.

Just back today after excellent week in the Korina at Scala Potamia. Very Good Hotel.
Big news is that he wreck has gone from Golden Beach. The remaining half was there tuesday afternoon but by wednesday lunchtime had been taken over to the cliffs most of the way toward the northern headland and therefore could hardly be seen.
Great place

Just got back from 2 weeks in Thassos stayed at the Hotel kamelia Scala Potatmia very nice place. This was our 3rd visit. Favourite place to vist Aliki. Favourite place to eat the Akogryalis run by Manolas his father and his son. The Mussels Saganaki is to die for. Fedra in Golden beach is also very good try the Crepes with Aubergine. Worst meal Green Sea, my meal was cold another meal was overcooked (kleftico)but having said that had been in on a previous lunch time and had very good food so perhaps the Chef was off sick the night we visited. The tanker was still in the bay when we left 3rd September. Could someone let us know when it was eventualy towed away please?

We just thought we would offer a little encouragement to those who are contemplating traveling independently to Thassos. Like many contributors to the site, we have visited Thassos many times, and have got there by many various ways. Last May, we paid £600.00 to Thomsons for flight only to Kavala, actually, at this time, we met Julie Flaherty and her family, and understood how difficult it was for them to return to Thassos. We decided to try the British Airways flight to Thessaloniki, as we consider Thomsons too expensive , and were impressed. The extra leg room, extra baggage allowance, in-flight refreshments included in the price, much more pleasant than the charter flights and the budget airlines. Until such time as there is a direct scheduled flight to Kavala, we will always travel this way. The flight gets you there in plenty of time to get to the ferry the same evening, the road from the airport leads to the ring road and from there to Kavala. Without rushing,we arrived in Keramoti in less than three hours, the road is good and the scenery superb (it is worth taking a little extra time on the return journey, to be able to stop at a couple of places, as the road mostly follows the coast, the views are great). Once at Keramoti and on the ferry, Thassos is in sight, and you know you are almost home! Anyway we are returning in May going this way and look forward to seeing again, our many friends in Thassos. We had pre-arranged our hire car, it was waiting for us, so it all went smoothly.

well we are returning!!
flights with BA to Thessoliniki, £119.00 return, and car hire from Potos Car Hire, in Potamia, and found a house in Potamia village 3 bedrooms and a washing machine, yippee (no returning with surf board towels after two weeks)! we are travelling on the 18th of july for 2 weeks so i think the flight prices are brill!
there are 6 of us and we have managed to do the whole holiday for £1699.00 which is brilliant, i know we will have a bit of a drive from the airport, but we cant wait!!
